Buxa
Farm Chalets are three Norwegian style semi-detached
chalets situated
on the A964 between Houton and Stromness in Orphir. The wood chalets with
stone entrance porches are located on the waterfront of Scapa Flow on 20
acres of unspoilt land with stunning panoramic views of the hills of Hoy,
Lighthouse on Graemsay and Stromness. The land is developed in accordance
to Rural Stewardship guidelines to encourage plant and wildlife around the
ponds and remaining property. Access to the shore is a short walk through
the property.
Open
all year round, the chalets have been assessed by VisitScotland
as prestigious four star standard, and offer accommodation for four people
in each unit. Each
unit
is single
storey and includes
ample parking,
entrance porch, living area with spectacular views to Scapa Flow, well equipped
kitchen open to dining area, 2 bedrooms (zip and link beds offer an option
of double or twin bedding) and bathroom with shower over bath. There is a double bed settee in the lounge
and cots and additional beds can be set up. A colour television with Freeview channels, DVD
player, radio and CD player, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher
and washer/dryer come as standard. Ramps, wide doors and lowered light switches
make these units accessible for those with
disabilities.

There are no hidden charges as all electric, linens, towels etc. is included in the tariff. For the sake of other visitors, we ask for no pets and no smoking in the chalets.

Tariffs
Bookings run from Saturday to Saturday on a weekly basis and are inclusive of VAT
- January - March: £350
- April-May: £450
- June: £500
- July-August: £525
- September: £450
- October-December: £350
* 10% discount for bookings of two weeks or more* - *Returning guests are entitled to a 10% discount when making a subsequent booking directly with ourselves*

Payment
Information
We require
all guests to pay a non-refundable deposit of £100 per week
per chalet to secure a booking, the balance being payable one month/4 weeks
before the date of arrival. For your convenience you may pay using the PayPal 'Pay Now' button below. Rent is payable in full at the time of booking
for reservations made less than one month/4 weeks before arrival. Please make
all cheques/postal orders payable to “Buxa Farm Chalets” and
send payments to the address above.
A booking acknowledgement will be sent to you showing
the full charge for the period and the amount of deposit
paid.
Cancellations
You must cancel your reservation within 21 days of your planned
stay to ensure a full refund minus the non-refundable
deposit. We would
advise that you
arrange cancellation insurance.

When planning your trip to Orkney by air or by ferry
please note these times and plan accordingly:
Check In time begins after 2:00 pm
Check out time is before 10:00 am
How To Get To Buxa Farm Chalets...
From Stromness: When departing the ferry in Stromness: Turn right upon departure from the ferry parking lot onto the A965 taking you towards Kirkwall. Turn right at A964 signposted to Orphir. Continue for approximately 5 miles and Buxa Farm Chalets is signposted on the right. Go to the end of the road and take a left at next signpost. Approximately 15 minutes.
From Kirkwall: When departing the ferry in Kirkwall: Turn left upon departure from the ferry parking lot and head through industrial park (taking you towards Kirkwall) to junction, take left and then first turn right at Mills Filling Station and follow road to traffic circle, take right at traffic circle. Take another right at the A964 Orphir road and stay on for about 20 minutes passing through small village of Orphir and uphill past Houton Ferry Terminal. Buxa Farm Chalets is signposted on the left. Go to the end of the road and take a left at next signpost.
From St. Margaret’s Hope: When departing the ferry from St Margarets Hope follow signs to Kirkwall. You will pass Highland Park Distillery on the right when entering Kirkwall, follow the road around and then take left at the A964 Orphir road (signposted) and stay on for about 20 minutes passing through small village of Orphir and uphill past Houton Ferry Terminal. Buxa Farm Chalets is signposted on the left. Go to the end of the road and take a left at next signpost.
What is there to see and do?
The most common complaint we get from visitors is that there just isn’t enough time to see everything in Orkney!
